REAL WEDDINGS

KASSIDY & REMY

3 V’S for a spectacular destination wedding in Dubrovnik– Venues , Views and Vibes

The charming city of Dubrovnik offered everything Kassidy & Remy imagined for their destination wedding in Croatia. Having guests coming from all over USA for the wedding, there was no room for mistakes.

Our bride had “secret themes” (more about the vibe she wanted to create versus decor) and the couple’s priorities for the wedding weekend were Venues, Views, and Vibes. Bride and groom wanted their wedding photography showing off these priorities! They also cared very much about emphasizing the natural and historic elements of Dubrovnik and amazing wedding venues versus additive/ artificial shots. It was extremely important to document the beauty & celebration naturally as it occurred. Bride and groom had a great-grandparent born in Croatia and emigrate to the US, and a good amount of wedding guests were from the two Croatian-descent families. They wanted some of the local / unique qualities and the setting – not to look or feel like any wedding in the US!

For the welcome party a day before the wedding, the secret theme was Aperol Spritz. The mood was matching the atmosphere of the venue – colourful, chic, lively. The welcome party took place at Hilton Imperial hotel in Dubrovnik and their gorgeous terrace has a direct view towards the stunning St. Lawrence fortress which was our reception venue.

The bride was wearing a yellow dress with white sashes and our groom was wearing a light blue linen suit.
Sponza palace was a perfect historical venue for hosting the wedding ceremony. The tone of the wedding ceremony was romantic, grand and traditional but unfussy. The bride was wearing a full-skirted gown in rich cream silk. The four bridesmaids were wearing satin dresses with some dramatic silhouette/elements in black, baby blue, navy and pink. Our bride was inspired by Monique Lhullier campaign she really loved which inspired the bridesmaids’ gowns – more of a runaway princess vibe.  Accessories were floral Manolos and beautiful pearl earrings (she was also wearing her grandmother’s Mikimoto pearls). Favors for the guests were goodie bags with Croatian lavender, little bottles of rakija and custom matchbooks.
The groom was wearing a midnight blue tuxedo; the other men in the wedding party were wearing black tuxedos. During the ceremony they had a cellist and violinist playing and a friend singing “Hallelujah”. This was one of the moments which gave us goosebumps.

After the ceremony, the couple wanted to incorporate a traditional Croatian moment so right after the ceremony was over, a traditional Dubrovnik trio was waiting in front of Sponza and a traditional walk down Stradun was about to start. This once-in-a-lifetime experience is more than a red carpet walk—it’s a moment where love takes center stage, shared with those who matter most. Brothers of the bride holding flags were leading guests towards the St. Lawrence fortress which is located within walking distance from the ceremony venue.

St. Lawrence is one of the most luxurious venues in Dubrovnik, has a triangular shape and has three terraces that overlook the Old City. The inside of the fortress features a big inner courtyard bounded by numerous arches which was a perfect spot for the first dance and party after dinner.

The decor at St. Lawrence fort was softer / more muted but the lines of the fort and the water line/ horizon were a bit harder / more masculine. The party itself was Apple-converted-space very lively and fun – with the DJ and sax performing. There were also numerous important moments and details throughout the evening that were adding to the glamorous evening: photo booth with props, champagne tower and last dance just minutes before the wedding night was over.
