LINDE & DENALI
CHINESE TRADITIONS BLENDED INTO A WESTERN-STYLE DESTINATION WEDDING IN DUBROVNIK
Linde and Denali met at a music festival in California, when Linde was studying in Los Angeles, and Denali in San Francisco. Denali complimented Linde’s hair and that was the beginning of a long-distance relationship. When Linde moved to Berlin, Germany for her Master’s degree, Denali sold his car, moved out of his apartment, and followed to start a new life together. The weekend they married in Dubrovnik in 2024 marks exactly 7 years of the relationship.
It took 9-10 months to plan the wedding. They got engaged in December 2023 and had our wedding in October 2024
During the preparation, the inspiration mostly came from long conversations about what they both loved, what brings them joy, what their family & friends would enjoy, and what symbolized their love. And of course, many Pinterest mood boards.
For Linde and Denali, it was important to have all their loved ones with them, celebrating and feeling the love all around. They wanted the wedding to be in a place where they had special memories and that was important to them. Whether it was the design, choice of music, food, entertainment… they truly wanted everything to reflect who they are and what they cherished the most: a blend of cultures, openness, appreciation for beautiful things, delicious food & wine, and the best party that we will all remember for a long time!
Two particular moments stand out from the wedding. The first one is when Linde walked down the aisle with her Dad, and the emotions just overpowered the (usually rather stoic) Denali. Linde will never forget how she felt when she saw her future husband unable to hold back his tears and raw emotions at the end of the aisle, waiting for her. The second one was at the reception, when out of complete surprise to both of them, all 70 guests started standing up from their seats, synchronized to the song ‘Shut up and dance’, and performed the best flash mob of all times!
Just before the main course, bride and groom have changed to Chinese traditional wedding clothes incorporating Chinese traditions into Western style.
Designing and preparing the wedding stationary was one of the highlights for Linde as the bride during the planning process. She has hand-cut and sealed every single invitation card, table menus, and number place cards. Some special touches included baby photos of Linde & Denali at the respective ages that corresponded to the table numbers, as well as personalized letters & printed photos for every single one of the guests.
The dress was created by the talented designers at the Ukrainian brand Ari Villoso. From the first fitting to the perfectly tailored wedding dress, it took about 6 months. Linde did a getting ready shoot in the bridal suite at the beautiful hotel Palace Natali in Dubrovnik with her 14 bridesmaids.
Groom’s tuxedo was designed by a Berlin tuxedo shop called Brummer Berlin. Getting ready photoshoot took place at Palace Natali as well with his 6 groomsmen.
Their first look took place outside in the garden of Palace Natali, with Denali & Linde, with the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and then also our respective families.
When it comes to décor, Linde and Denali were inspired by the calming, timeless, and elegant nature of eucalyptus – so the colour palette was centred around the eucalyptus green, with notes of blush, creme, and forest greens. The décor was kept in a neutral, soft palette with rose gold accents.
The couple performed our first dance to a mashup of ‘River flows in me’ that transitioned into ‘Feeling Good’, which perfectly represents our appreciation of the classics, of timeless traditions, and our shared love for a fun time.
The wedding cake was created by the talented Gianni bakery in Dubrovnik, that fulfilled their special wish for a fruity, light-taste cake. The first layer was blueberry-cheesecake, and the second one was mango-passionfruit. The design was inspired by so-called ‘naked cakes’, garnished with eucalyptus, to keep it within the minimalistic, elegant colour palette. They also added a custom-made cake topper in the form of cartooned Linde & Denali. For the late-night snack, the couple prepared a Ramen bar. At midnight, the DJ played ‘their song’, the one during which they met 7 years ago at the music festival, and Linde and Denali had their moment dancing together with all our loved ones surrounding them. It was very special!
