PEYVAND & TOM
A magical destination wedding weekend in Dubrovnik!
In bringing their families together, Peyvand and Tom decided to get married in the beautiful historic city of Dubrovnik in Croatia. Peyvand and Tom are so warm and welcoming, and more importantly, they love to party! So it wasn’t a surprise that nearly 150 friends and family members came to join them in Croatia during their wedding weekend, for a celebration not to be forgotten.
A night before the wedding was Henna night which took place at Lazareti. It was a Mediterranean chic mixed with old – fashioned style and Persian rugs. Wedding couple’s wish for the night before was to be relaxed and fun, giving their guests a chance to unwind before the Big Day.
The couple was accommodated at a luxury villa with beautiful views towards the Old City (which also happens to be where Kings Landing was filmed in HBO’s Game of Thrones).
The wedding morning preparations for the bride have started during morning hours while Tom and his groomsmen were still enjoying drinks by the pool.
A Persian-American ceremony took place at Sponza Palace in the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Incorporating Peyvand’s Iranian culture was very important to her, and the couple wanted to make sure it was a stress-free environment with lots of fun and dancing! For the Persian ceremony, Peyvand and her family members had items brought directly from Iran for the traditional wedding “Sofreh” (a low table with items that each have specific meaning for a Persian wedding ceremony). The couple sat in front of the Sofreh adorned with symbolic items that are meant to bless the newlyweds.
Peyvand stunned in a beautiful gown by Rita Vinieris while Tom rocked a classic black suit and black bowtie. During the wedding ceremony, Peyvand’s uncle was conducting a Persian poetry reading as family and friends held a canopy over their heads while dusting them with sugar, a Persian tradition. The sugar cones are softly ground together above the bride and groom’s head throughout the ceremony to shower them in sweetness. Afterwards, they transitioned into a traditional American ceremony and shared their vows.
Once they were pronounced the new Mr. and Mrs., guests made their way towards amphitheatre at Park Orsula where the catering was waiting with cocktails and finger food!
The reception was set just a walk away from the amphitheatre, at Visnjica, located at a very famous lookout point, the steep rock peak that offers one of the most stunning views to the Old City Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands. The reception style was dreamy with contemporary details. Baby’s breath clouds with big chandeliers hanging over the tables were creating a magical atmosphere adding to the perfect sunset and sea views.
After dinner, Peyvand and Tom shared their first dance to “L.O.V.E” by Nat King Cole and after some party time, the drummers came in to rock the party even more. When the moment came to cut the wedding cake, a Kinfe Dance began. It is a Persian wedding tradition that begins the cake cutting. The dancing continued in good humour, as well as entertainment and this was a memorable night for our young newlyweds and all their guests.
Planning a post-wedding event, a beach celebration was the perfect way to continue the celebrations and bask in the sun with family and friends after the big day. Copacabana beach in Dubrovnik is a perfect spot that offers privacy and beautiful scenery. Buffet of finger foods, fresh salads, and tropical fruit platters was an ideal choice for a beach day. All in all, this special weekend was an unforgettable experience that reflected our couple’s style and love story.
